Chocolate Protein Pudding

I’m dropping in for a little food motivation for you on this Memorial Day! This is a quick and easy recipe for chocolate pudding and you likely already have all the ingredients you need on hand, so you can whip this up in no time and with no fuss! You could even take this to your Memorial Day picnic or BBQ.

Sometimes a girl just needs her chocolate fix! And who doesn’t love the thick and creamy consistency of pudding? Let me introduce you to chocolate protein pudding! You can probably guess that protein powder is involved, but the other secret ingredient? Avocadoes! This makes the perfect post-workout snack since it contains both the protein powder and healthy fats from the avocado. The protein powder will repair muscles from your workout, and the fats will slow down the absorption of sugar from the honey. It’s a much healthier option than those artificially flavored pudding cups or the boxed kind that you mix with milk. Also, are you a little hesitant about making this because of the avocado? I was when I first heard about using avocadoes in puddings, cake frostings, etc., but let me assure you there’s no hint of avocado in how it tastes. It totally takes on the chocolate flavor, and the avocado only serves to give you the thick consistency of pudding. This also makes a delicious dip for fruits, especially bananas and strawberries! It’s diary free, clean, and delicious, and most importantly, you probably already have all the ingredients in your pantry!

Chocolate Protein Pudding

Makes about 4 heaping ½ cup servings

  • 2 medium avocados, peeled and pit removed
  • 1/4 cup chocolate protein powder (Make sure to use a clean protein powder—I use perfect fit protein I’ve found that usually, plant-based powders blend smoother when making sweet treats and have a less gritty taste.)
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup raw honey (if you suffer from allergies, use a local honey!)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt

Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth. Serve and Enjoy! Decorate with sprinkles, if desired!

It doesn’t get much easier than that!

(If you don’t have access to a high-powered blender, chop up the avocado before adding it in, and have patience while mixing! Be sure you pause the mixing and stir several times until you get that smooth, creamy consistency…because honestly, who wants chunky pudding?)
